Grandpa Schroll, 1934

Outlaws come with automatic associations. Think red bandanas and gleaming guns. Think Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker. Think John Dillinger and Jesse James.

But not all outlaws are killers and bandits. Some of us are just independent thinkers. We have trouble with authority. We like to make our own way. And sometimes, that way ends up going against that same authority we have difficulty minding. Occasionally, this puts us on the wrong side of the law, since dissenting opinions have a way of doing that. *shrugging* It happens.

So, in our case, our definition of ‘outlaw’ involves a large dose of independent spirit. Come be indie with us.

And uh, who’s the man in the cover image? He’s the managing editor’s grandfather. The photo was taken in 1934 and carried around by his wife for nearly 75 years.
